Environmental education programme kicks off in local communities in the Zambezi Delta

Nov 19, 2024 |

Zambezi Delta Conservation and Anti-Poaching, which manages Coutada 11 in the Marromeu complex, has started an innovative environmental education programme. The initiative, which kicked off this month, is aimed at local communities, with particular involvement from the Maria de Lurdes Mutola Primary School.

The project's main aim is to promote environmental awareness among teenagers and young people, encouraging sustainable and responsible use of the region's natural resources among communities that are an important key to preserving that ecosystem.

With a practical and educational approach, the Zambeze Delta Conservation and Anti-Poaching team will teach classes on biodiversity conservation and the management of local ecosystems. These sessions aim to emphasise the importance of natural resources not only for environmental balance, but also for the social, cultural and economic benefits they offer to communities.

As well as protecting the environment, the programme aims to contribute to the education and development of new generations, ensuring that both boys and girls stay in school while learning to value and care for their natural heritage.

‘Ready to conserve the environment and keep boys and girls in school together we will win,’ the organisation stressed, calling for the involvement of local communities in this essential mission.
