"Moments when nature reveals itself" by Pedro Couto at the Fernando Leite Couto Foundation

Sep 8, 2026 |

The Fernando Leite Couto Foundation in Maputo has opened the photographic exhibition "Momentos em que a natureza se revela" (Moments when nature reveals itself), by photographer Pedro Couto, running until 30 September.

The show brings together photographs of African landscapes and wildlife taken by Pedro Couto over several years, curated by Yolanda Couto, in the institution's gallery on Avenida Kim Il Sung in Maputo, according to the Fernando Leite Couto Foundation.

The same source notes that this is Pedro Couto's first public exhibition. Born in Beira in 1971, he is a lawyer by profession and a self-taught photographer since the days of film. Couto says that photography taught him "the art of patience, discipline and careful observation".

On the spirit of the work on show, the photographer states that "the greatest reward is not returning home with a photograph, but having been there when nature decides to reveal one of its countless stories".

The Fernando Leite Couto Foundation has established itself as one of Maputo's leading cultural venues, with a regular programme of fine art exhibitions, literary evenings and initiatives dedicated to emerging Mozambican authors, according to the institution's website.

The exhibition can be visited until the end of September, with further information available through the foundation's contact details.
