Oct 6, 2025 |

The Government of Mozambique intends to grow the economy through international tourism by moving forward with the project to expand single-stop borders in Southern Africa.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, Mateus Saíze, during the 4th edition of the Ngoma Cultural Festival, held in the village of Folotia, Ulóngué administrative post, Angónia district, Tete province, de acordo com a RM.

As stated by the minister, the creation of single-stop borders will reduce bureaucracy in the movement of people and goods, increase turnover in the region and, at the same time, boost tourism as an engine of growth for the Gross Domestic Product.

In addition to the economic component, Mateus Saíze highlighted the importance of culture as the foundation of national sovereignty and a factor of unity between communities. He stressed that the Ngoma Cultural Festival represents a moment of harmony and solidarity between peoples, hoping that it will inspire Mozambicans to continue together on the path of development, always guided by peace and mutual respect.

The minister also reaffirmed the government's commitment to valuing and supporting the Ngoni kingdom as a relevant expression of Mozambican identity.

The event coincided with the enthronement ceremony of Horácio Damas as the 5th King of the Ngoni people, who will now be known as King Zimtambira V, and was attended by several dignitaries, including the Governor of Tete, Domingos Viola.

The Governor of Tete, Domingos Viola, congratulated the local community for preserving its traditions, emphasising that the continuity of this cultural heritage is essential for future generations to recognise and live their true identity.
